The Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4) is given by some international schools as part of their admissions process. The test assesses a student’s reasoning abilities in identifying patterns and manipulating words, numbers and shapes. These are generally referred to as Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning and Spatial Reasoning.
Aegis Advisors has a proven track record of helping students improve and score well on the CAT4 test. Our team of experienced tutors can help students familiarise themselves with the types of questions on the test, fill knowledge gaps, and teach important test-taking strategies. Private one-on-one and semi-private classes are available in person at our center or online.

The CAT4 Test is designed to assess a student’s reasoning abilities in identifying patterns and manipulating words, numbers and shapes. The main areas tested are Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning and Spatial Reasoning.
The CAT4 test aims to understand a student’s abilities and likely academic potential. It is a digital test, and there are different levels for students of different ages.

As students move up the levels, the questions would get harder as the expected level of achievement increases. For example, older students will be presented with harder vocabulary and more complex shapes, where the correlation is more subtle and requires more thought.
It is more common than not for students to struggle with CAT4, as it is not something that they are typically exposed to at school. For example, Spatial Reasoning is specifically designed to target what is commonly under-assessed in schools. Therefore, if you are planning for your child to take the CAT4 test, you may wish to expose them to materials first and familiarise with the content, so they will not be taken by surprise.
Our tutors have a strong track record of success in helping students prepare for the CAT4 test and ultimately get accepted at their preferred schools. They support students throughout the test preparation process, including working with them on areas of struggle, teaching important test-taking strategies, and administering periodic mock tests to track progress.
